Services at Raisin Joy OT
OT Evaluations
The first session is typically an occupational therapy evaluation, lasting about an hour. During this time, Nicole will meet with caregivers to discuss their priorities, as well as the child’s strengths, abilities, and challenges. Based on the child’s comfort level, they will engage in play-based activities, allowing Nicole to assess their skills in a natural and stress-free way. Standardized assessments and screeners will be used as needed. Following the evaluation, Nicole will determine if OT services would be beneficial and provide a detailed report of the findings. If therapy is recommended, she will create a personalized plan of care with goals tailored to your child’s needs and your family’s priorities.
Treatment Sessions
Following the initial evaluation, the next session is typically a treatment session, lasting 53 minutes. The first session focuses on building a strong foundation of safety, trust, and connection between the therapist and child. Parents may choose to join their child in the session or wait in the lobby, depending on what feels most comfortable for both them and their child.
Treatment sessions are designed to support your child and family, based on what matters most to you. Nicole will incorporate a variety of research backed therapeutic modalities, depending on your child’s needs, including sensory exploration, use of expressive art, and interoception awareness- building activities.
Nicole can also collaborate with your child’s support team as needed- teachers, doctors, nutritionists, mental health professionals, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, etc- to provide holistic, coordinated care that enhances your child’s progress.
Caregiver Education
Nicole also offers one-on-one caregiver education sessions without the child present. These sessions provide a dedicated space for answering questions, collaborating, and problem-solving to find the best ways to support your child at home.
Telehealth
Virtual sessions are available through our Client Portal, Simple Practice. Reach out to Nicole to discuss if virtual telehealth sessions would be a good fit for your child.

A commonly asked question! For an OT, “occupations” are the meaningful activities that we want and need to do in our everyday lives, from brushing your teeth and getting dressed to eating meals with your family or going to school.
Everyone, of all ages, participates in occupations. An OT provides services that support engagement in these activities!

If your child is having a hard time doing the things that matter most to them- and to your family- occupational therapy might help! Whether it’s challenges with fine or gross motor skills, sensory needs, executive functioning, social interactions, self-regulation, or other things that make daily life tricky, OT can support your child in building the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
OT’s commonly work with children who have the following diagnoses, challenges, or differences:Autism
ADHD
Sensory Processing Difficulties
Behavioral or mental health disorders

Fine motor and/or handwriting challenges
Neurological conditions
Genetic disorders
Intellectual and developmental disabilities
Developmental delay
Traumatic Brain Injury

Cerebral Palsy

This is just a partial list of challenges we support- there are many others we can help with! Feel free to reach out to Nicole to see if occupational therapy is a good fit for your child.

A neurodiversity affirming therapist works to affirm, or support, individuals who may think, learn, or act differently from the majority. Neurodiversity affirming therapists know that supporting individuals who think and learn differently can promote successful, creative, and thriving communities. We are always, listening, learning, and growing.

Fees are based on the type of service provided, with typical treatment sessions billed at $185 per session.
Raisin Joy Occupational Therapy is private pay, which allows me the flexibility to deliver high-quality, individualized care that focuses on your child's unique needs without being constrained by insurance limitations.
This approach enables me to create personalized treatment plans based on your child’s strengths, goals, and progress, rather than being bound by insurance-imposed visit limits or standard treatment protocols. Many insurance companies cover therapy models that don’t always align with the latest research or best practices for neurodivergent children. By working outside of insurance restrictions, I can offer truly supportive and affirming therapy approaches. This also reduces the administrative burden associated with insurance, allowing me to devote more time to providing exceptional therapy and support for both children and their families.
When getting started, I recommend contacting your insurance company to ask about “out-of-network benefits.”
A superbill can be provided upon request.
